The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal officially kicked off its 2026 local government election campaign trail in the uMdoni area under the uMngeni Municipality on Monday, with provincial leaders outlining the party’s vision for governance, service delivery and economic growth.
DA provincial leadership members addressed supporters, community members and party activists during the campaign launch event, describing it as the beginning of an intensive drive to reconnect with communities across the province ahead of the 2026 elections.
Party leaders said the campaign will focus on improving basic services, creating jobs, fighting corruption and strengthening local municipalities. They also highlighted the DA-led administration in uMngeni as an example of what they described as accountable and transparent governance.
Speaking during the event, DA leaders encouraged residents to participate actively in the upcoming elections and engage with issues affecting their communities, including water shortages, infrastructure challenges and unemployment.
Supporters carrying DA banners and party colours gathered in large numbers as leaders moved through different parts of the area engaging with residents and listening to their concerns.
The party said the launch in uMdoni marks the start of several campaign activities that will be rolled out across KwaZulu-Natal in the coming months as political parties prepare for the highly contested 2026 local government elections.
